“KlearSky not only provides technical expertise to assist in implementing complex applications, but equally important they have the kinds of “people skills” that can calm troubled waters. When implementing complex projects, sometimes the most important quality a consultant brings to the table is a quiet sense of confident assurance. That’s what KlearSky provides. They are easy to work with. They deliver what they promise.”

Consortium Management
The Challenge:
Manage the growth and development of a Tessitura consortium at the Harris Theater.
The Solution:
KlearSky was selected to execute the program management for the Harris Theater consortium, overseeing each of the Tessitura implementations, and providing program management support to the executives at the Harris Theater as the consortium continues to grow.
Summary:
From its onset, the Harris Theater located in Chicago’s Millennium Park, has strived to become one of the leading arts organizations in Chicago. As a non-profit, the mission of the Harris Theater is to support its user groups with subsidized rental, marketing and ticketing services, technical support and state-of- the-art facilities. In order to streamline marketing and ticketing practices and provide better customer service between the organizations performing at the theater, the administration sought to establish a Tessitura consortium. To help them achieve that goal successfully, the Harris Theater looked to partner with an experienced company that could help them achieve both the Tessitura project management objectives as well as assist them in attracting and implementing sub licensees organizations.

KlearSky started to work with the Harris Theater consortium during the fall of 2005. Initially the focus was on the Harris Theater itself, ensuring that its centralized box office, development, and marketing functions were integrated into Tessitura. At the same time, KlearSky was assisting the Harris Theater staff with budgeting and implementation estimates for sub license organizations.

In the fall of 2006 Chicago Opera Theater (COT) became the first sub licensee for the Harris Theater Consortium. KlearSky managed the Chicago Opera Theater implementation while also helping the Harris Theater and COT staffs adjust to the complexities of the consortium relationship.

In the spring of 2007 Columbia College Chicago joined as the third member of the Harris Theater consortium. Columbia College of Chicago consists of a number of small organizations that are associated with the College itself. In some ways, they are a consortium within a consortium. This brought another level of complexity to the engagement and required both external project management provided by KlearSky as well as internal project management staff from the Columbia College.
